Free PDF Tools That Run in Your Browser

A free, secure PDF toolkit — edit, merge, fill, sign, unlock and password-protect documents, plus extract tables and images, all in your browser.

CanaryPDF is a free online PDF editor and toolkit that runs entirely inside your browser. Edit page order, combine multiple PDFs into one, extract tables to CSV or JSON, pull images as PNG, JPG or WebP, fill and sign forms, unlock password-protected files or add AES-256 password protection — all without uploading your files to any server.

All processing happens locally in your browser. There is nothing to install and no account to create. Your PDFs stay on your device from start to finish.

Browser-based PDF processing means your documents are never transmitted over the network and no third party can access them. This makes CanaryPDF a practical choice for anyone handling sensitive files — contracts, financial statements, medical records or anything you would rather keep private.

Works on Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge across desktop, tablet and mobile.

Frequently asked questions

How do you extract tables from a PDF?
CanaryPDF makes it easy to extract tables from a PDF. Our tool automatically detects tables on the page but you can also manually select the exact area you need. The process is free, secure and happens entirely in your browser.
Is CanaryPDF free to use?
Yes, CanaryPDF is 100% free for all features, including our table extractor, image extractor, page editor, Fill & Sign, Unlock PDF, Protect PDF and Merge PDFs tools. There are no subscriptions, usage limits or hidden fees.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. All processing is done securely in your browser. Your files never leave your computer, ensuring your data remains 100% private.
Is there a limit on PDF file size or number of pages?
There are no hard limits, but performance depends on your device's memory and browser. The tools are optimized to handle large and complex documents efficiently.
What formats can I export my data to?
You can export tables to CSV for Excel or JSON for web applications. Images can be saved as PNG, JPEG or WebP. Fill & Sign downloads filled and signed PDFs. The page editor and Merge PDFs tool save edited or combined PDFs, and you can re-save any PDF with AES-256 password protection via the Protect PDF tool.
What is the Fill & Sign tool?
Fill & Sign lets you fill in PDF form fields and add your signature to any PDF. You can type into text fields, check boxes and dropdowns, and place one or more signatures on the document. All processing happens in your browser.
How do I fill and sign a PDF?
Open your PDF in the Fill & Sign tool. If the PDF has form fields, they are detected automatically—click a field to type. To add a signature, click Add Signature, draw or upload your signature, then place it on the page. When done, click Save PDF to save the filled document.
Can I sign a PDF that has no form fields?
Yes. You can add signatures to any PDF, even if it has no fillable form fields. Use Add Signature, create your signature and place it where you need it on the page.
How do I merge PDFs into one file?
Open the Merge PDFs tool, drag in two or more PDF files, and click Merge & Edit. CanaryPDF combines them in the order you selected and opens the result in the page editor, where you can reorder, delete or rotate pages before saving — optionally with AES-256 password protection.
Can I unlock or remove a password from a PDF?
Yes. Open the Unlock PDF tool, select your password-protected file and enter the password. CanaryPDF removes the password locally in your browser and lets you save an unlocked copy. You need to know the password — CanaryPDF doesn't crack or bypass PDF security.
Can I password-protect a PDF?
Yes. Open the Protect PDF tool, choose your file, set a password and optional permission restrictions (printing, copying, editing), then save. CanaryPDF applies AES-256 encryption locally in your browser; the file is never uploaded.
What devices and browsers are supported?
CanaryPDF works on all modern web browsers like Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge, on both desktop and mobile devices.
Is CanaryPDF secure?
Absolutely. Security is our top priority. CanaryPDF processes all files directly in your web browser. Your documents are never uploaded to a server, ensuring your data remains private and secure on your own computer.
